May 12th

The update is close to being finished, but I don't want to say exactly when it'll be up. The TF9 game, although taking far more time than I thought it would, continues to be worked on by both Chris (the programmer) and myself.

As always, thanks for reading.

Sneak Peaks

We're off the roof! That's right, the goblins have moved off the roof and are now... well, take a look at the sneak peaks to see a couple panels from the next update.

If you don't already know, click on the vote buttons on the right of these very words to see the pencils of the upcoming panels. Those vote buttons also help to move Goblins up the list and make us all look cool. I mean, you want to be reading the coolest webcomic, right?

As always, thanks for reading.

The Game & The Update

The Goblins TF9 Game

Building this game not only requires a lot of extra art from me, but a lot of long hours for Chris to do his programming thing. I'm beginning to think that it won't be ready for last Monday. Anyways, the two of us are working tirelessly on it and it is on it's way.

The Goblins Comic

I'm going to do something I never do. I'm going to promise you that the update will go up at 12 midnight, Friday night (GMT -8). The reason I can promise this is because the update was actually finished the other day. I'm trying to ease the comic back into a solid, weekly schedule and one of the ways that I'm doing this is by sitting on an update while I get a head start on the next one.

As always, thanks for reading.

Calgary Comic Expo

I know this is a last minute announcement, but Danielle and I will have a booth this weekend at the Calgary Comic Expo. We'll be located in the Artist's Alley at booth A13, sharing a table with Weregeek.

If you're in the area, come and say hi.

It's my hope that the TF9 game and the next update will both go up sometime around Monday, after we get back from the trip.

As always, thanks for reading.

The Name Of The Wind

"I could write a book if I wanted to" It's something that many people, including myself have thought before.

Writing is like singing or acting in that, whether you're good at it or not is not always immediately realized by the "writer". Take something like weight lifting or playing the piano. If you can't do those things very well, even the densest of people will immediately realize this fact as soon as they try them. With something like writing, we can read a good book or see a good movie and at times, wrongly think "I could make that too".

With Patrick's book however, by the time I'd reached the second page, I thought "Whoa. I could never write something this beautiful" and since Patrick is a friend of mine, I naturally burned the book in a fit of furious jealousy. The Name Of The Wind is currently at the #11 spot on the New York Times best selling list and there's good reason for it. Patrick has a gift and I invite you all to take a look at his book and enjoy that gift.

Tempts Fate 9 Postponed

Earlier I had a great phone conversation with Chris Woods, a programmer with a lot of experience creating online games. After some talk, we've decided to work together and turn the current TF9 game into and actual online 2D game. Since the artwork is already completed for this, Chris says that it may be completed in about a week. Now although this sucks that the whole thing is being postponed, there are a lot of good points.

-Since a lot of the game would run itself, turns can probably happen much more often than twice a week (maybe once a day?).
-Characters will be instantly created instead of waiting for me to put them together.
-Players can interface with an MMO screen which can give you instant results instead of sending emails and waiting for me to reply.
-EVERYONE who wants to play, can play.

So as you can see this is very much worth the pain of waiting another week(ish) to start up the game. People who have already had their characters placed online will hold onto the rights to that name & concept.

So as you can see, I wasn't kidding when I mentioned in the rules about how this is all an experiment and that I was basically fumbling around in the dark with this. I want to thank everyone for their patience while the bugs are being worked out. I also want to thank Chris Woods for contacting me and offering his help!

I'll keep you all posted on how things are going. As for now, I'm off to draw.

As always, thanks for reading.

Still Now Even More TF9 Info That's More Still Even Now

Danielle and I want everyone to be able to play the new TF9 game. Unfortunately, we see now that it's just not possible. My inbox is packed with over 700 character forms and clearly, we can't manage that many people. I really didn't expect that this many people would want to play the game.

But we're trying to work out ways of getting as many people as we can into it. We're considering pushing back the start date of the game so we can make more characters and put together more ways to keep those characters organized during play (if anyone out there is a flash/game programmer and would like to talk business, please drop me an email). In the meantime, we're grinding out more characters.

Also, I know that some of you can't see the pop-up info in the temple map, so I'll type it out and have it listed by the time the game starts up.

And I'd like to remind players that the game hasn't actually started yet and so turn emails are not being excepted at this time.

And yes, I'm still working on the comic during this craziness.

Also, thank you so much to everyone who's been donating!

As always, thanks for reading.
